What you’ll do
• To work as part of a collaborative and collegiate Court of Protection team
• To assist the Solicitors in the department with their caseload of professional deputyships and professional trusteeships
• To draft legal documents including court applications, statements and letters
• To maintain relationships with clients, their families, Solicitors, therapists and other professionals on the phone, by email and, when required, in person
• Preparation of OPG annual reports
• To assist with FLA calls/emails within skill, knowledge and experience
• To manage the deputyship and client designated account balances and provide regular reports on spending to the File Handlers
• To make payments from the deputyship and client designated accounts as approved by the File Handler
• Monthly reconciliation of deputyship and client designated accounts
• To manage a caseload of execution only Personal Injury Trusts
• To manage a caseload of lay deputyship applications
• Opening and closure of files
Experience you need
Experience of working in a law firm preferred, but not a necessity that you’ve worked on COP files as full training will be provided.
You will receive training through internal training plans and external accreditation into a full COP paralegal role.
Degree in law or similar essential.
We would also welcome applications from Cilex or equivalent experienced paralegals seeking to transfer to a new area of law and looking for a new challenge
